I do a lot of custom plugin development, in fact 50% of my work is spent coding backend solutions.

Local Advantage has been one of my long term clients, I love working on their projects as I reckon they have a great idea and Louise’s energy and enthusiasm makes her really easy to work with. I love working with enthusiastic and motivated people.

So Local Advantage is an App full of coupons and offers for its members. The App has its own backend where the individual offers are entered. Previously this data was double entered to the website.

In this recent project I developed a plugin to import the app content to the Website, consuming the apps API.  

Offers are imported into a custom post type with custom taxonomies and fields. The images are sideloaded into the media library and attached to the post. There was also some work done around reindexing the imported posts in Relevanssi and Search And Filter.

The offers are now imported using a cron job on the server every few hours, eliminating the need for any double entry of the offers. It all happens automatically.
